KES PE & Sport

Sport & Leadership Activity

All students in Year 12 will opt to pursue a sport or leadership course for one lesson each week.

They will choose from
  • a ‘game’ activity
  • a fitness activity
  • a leadership activity, supporting lessons (sport, dance, ICT, MFL, literacy, numeracy) as a trained leader and/or a registered Millennium Volunteer
Students from Year 13 may opt into this programme



Team Activities

Students have the opportunity to regularly represent KES in
  • football (Schools and Colleges League, Cowles Cup, ESFA Individual Schools U18 Cup)
  • netball (‘Pink Ladies’ in the West Norfolk League)
  • cricket (KES Academy including winter coaching, playing in the West Norfolk Indoor 6-a-side League and summer fixtures)
** tours abroad for these teams are being planned



Sports Leaders UK Award in Community Sports Leadership, National Governing Body Awards & Millennium Volunteers

All Year 12 students may choose to pursue the Sports Leaders UK Award in Community Sports Leadership which follows the prescribed QCA approved syllabus. Additionally the course demands that all students complete
  • an HSE approved first aid qualification
  • a Child Protection course
and must
  • complete at least one National Governing Body Coaching Award
or
  • attend at least one leadership enrichment activity
All Year 12 students are encouraged to volunteer their help to the wider community and to register as Millennium Volunteers



Leadership Extension Course

In Year 13 all those students who have successfully completed the Sports Leaders UK Award in Community Sports Leadership and who are intending to pursue a career in sport are encouraged to complete an ‘in-house’ leadership extension course



Certificate & Diploma in Sports Contribution

To recognise the achievement of those students who actively engage in Sport and Leadership Activity we provide students with the opportunity to complete the ‘in-house’ Certificate in Sports Contribution (1 year) or the Diploma in Sports Contribution (2 years)
